YÖK President Visited Historical Sites in Bitlis and Ahlat

The President of the Council of Higher Education (YÖK), Prof. Dr. Erol Özvar, visited historical sites in Bitlis and Ahlat. The President of YÖK, Prof. Dr. Erol Özvar, who came to the city to attend the ‘Regional Development-Focused Mission Differentiation and Specialization Program’ organized by Bitlis Eren University (BEÜ), visited historical sites with 25 university rectors accompanying him.
Visited Historical Sites and Program Details
After visiting the İhlasiye Madrasa, Özvar examined historical buildings and bridges unearthed as part of the ‘Dere Üstü Rehabilitation Project’ and visited the Seljuk Square Cemetery in Ahlat. Getting information about the tombstones from BEÜ Ahlat Vocational School Lecturer İlter İgit, Özvar emphasized in his statement to journalists that Bitlis is one of the rare provinces that preserves its historical texture. Özvar emphasized the importance of Bitlis Eren University focusing on tourism within the scope of the ‘Regional Development Mission Specialization Program’. He stated that the support given to the university will contribute to the development of the region. Özvar highlighted that the young, dynamic staff of Bitlis Eren University and the supporters in the city contribute to the rapid development of the university.
