Recep Çankaya, who lives in Mahkemeağcin village, shared the following information about the historical structures in the village: “There are cross signs belonging to past civilizations. The rock structure resembles Cappadocia. Rocks that are easy to carve were used as a settlement to protect from wars in the past.”

Çankaya pointed out that the caves have been neglected for a long time, stating, “Villagers used to plant rice here. The caves were also used as animal shelters in the past. However, the caves need maintenance and cleaning. The underground city, which has significant touristic potential, is waiting to be restored by the relevant authorities.”
