The Municipality of Karesi processes tree and plant branches collected from green areas and citizens’ pruning activities into wood shavings using a pruning machine, utilizing them as fertilizer in green areas. Under the leadership of Mayor Dinçer Orkan, recycling and zero waste efforts initiated by the Municipality of Karesi continue unabated. The Municipality of Karesi, accelerating Zero Waste efforts in the district with its Waste Collection Center, transforms usable waste into reusable items and warm shelters for stray animals. As part of these efforts, the municipality also recycles pruned tree branches and plant waste, returning them to nature through recycling. Natural fertilizer promotes water conservation Teams equipped with branch grinding and shredding machines from the Parks and Gardens Directorate turn most of the branch waste obtained from nature back into nature. The resulting wood shavings are used as natural fertilizer in green areas. By meeting the fertilizer needs of plants with wood shavings, natural fertilizer helps keep the soil moist, thus saving water from irrigation. When wood shavings come into contact with the soil, they promote the formation of humus, which is rich in plant nutrients. Excess wood shavings are distributed as fuel to those in need. With this initiative, the Municipality of Karesi brings back what nature provides and contributes to recycling.
