Severe Heavy Rainfall in Kozan District of Adana Caused Damage to Agricultural Lands
Today, severe heavy rainfall in Kozan district of Adana led to a flood disaster in Göller Plateau. As a result of the heavy rainfall that started around noon, streams overflowed and agricultural lands were submerged under water.
AFAD, Adana Metropolitan Municipality, and Kozan Municipality teams are present in the region to inspect the damages caused by the flood and start the cleaning efforts. The extent of the damage caused by the floodwaters has not yet been clearly determined.
Enver Akçalı, a witness to the flood disaster, stated that the floodwaters uprooted rocks causing significant destruction, and mentioned that his date palm trees and equipment in his garden were swept away by the floodwaters. Akçalı expressed, “We have experienced this disaster for the first time with such severity. Our soil and agricultural lands have suffered great damage. Our hope is that such disasters will not recur,” he said.
Rainfall is still ongoing in the region, and officials continue their efforts to minimize the effects of the flood.
