The High-Speed Train (YHT) line, one of Turkey’s important transportation projects, has started to offer uninterrupted and fast travel opportunity between Sivas and Istanbul. While the journey from Sivas to Istanbul by bus takes about 14 hours, with non-stop YHT services, this time has been reduced to approximately 7 hours.

Significant Decrease in Travel Time

The Ankara-Sivas YHT line, reducing the transportation from Ankara to Sivas to 2 hours, was inaugurated on April 26, 2023, in a ceremony attended by Vice President Fuat Oktay. With high-speed train services between Istanbul and Sivas, the travel time has been reduced to 7 hours, attracting great interest from the citizens. Special welcome programs are organized for the arriving passengers.

Effects of the High-Speed Train

Sivas Governor Yılmaz Şimşek stated that the High-Speed Train will open up new horizons in the city, saying, ‘The high-speed train will open up new horizons in our city. It will contribute to our city in terms of tourism, industry, and economy in every aspect.’ Furthermore, Sivas Mayor Adem Uzun emphasized their belief that the High-Speed Train will strengthen family relationships, stating, ‘We believe that it will also strengthen family relationships between Sivas and Istanbul.’
