The 12th BAU Bosphorus Sailing Cup sailing race organized by Bahçeşehir University started in the Bosphorus in Istanbul with the participation of 42 sailboats. The fierce competition of the sailboats provided an unforgettable visual feast for the people of Istanbul.
Exciting Details of the Race
In the race held in the Bosphorus, 50 sailboats participating in the event organized by Bahçeşehir University International Sailing Club started from the BAU Beşiktaş South Campus. The sailboats will complete the final stage on the buoy course between Caddebostan and the Islands.
Rector Esra Hatipoğlu’s Statements
Prof. Dr. Esra Hatipoğlu, the Rector of Bahçeşehir University, expressed her happiness and pride in decorating the Bosphorus with sailboats. Hatipoğlu emphasized the importance of making this prestigious event, which highlights a harmonious life with nature and maritime culture, a traditional one.
Two more races will be held on the second day of the race.
In the event where sailboats from various sports clubs like Fenerbahçe, Galatasaray, and global companies participated, there was a great competition due to the challenging currents in the Bosphorus. The transit ship traffic in the Bosphorus was temporarily suspended due to the races.
