It has emerged that Ahmet Türk, the Mayor of Mardin Metropolitan Municipality elected as a member of the DEM Party, and Devrim Demir spent a total of 4 million 505 thousand TL under the guise of representation and hospitality in 7 months during the local government general elections.
Following a terrorism investigation and a court ruling that included a prison sentence, Ahmet Türk, the Mayor of Mardin Metropolitan Municipality, was suspended from his duties by the Ministry of Interior. A replacement was appointed. Since November 4, Ahmet Türk, who claims he has been wronged in every speech, along with Devrim Demir, has revealed shocking expenditures made during their term at Mardin Metropolitan Municipality.
According to the information obtained, between April 1, 2024, and November 4, 2024, a total of 4 million 505 thousand TL was spent under the management of DEM Party’s Ahmet Türk and Devrim Demir for representation and hospitality. This amount corresponds to an average monthly expenditure of 650 thousand TL and nearly 30 thousand TL daily. This indicates that a fortune was spent daily on meals and tea.
Ahmet Türk and Devrim Demir, who have repeatedly stated in every speech during their term that “there is no money in the municipality, the municipal treasury is empty”, and that “irregularities occurred during the trustee period”, have surprised many with the high amount they spent on representation and hospitality in a span of 7 months. It has been revealed that during the terms of former mayors Ahmet Türk and Devrim Demir, who emphasized “transparent management” in almost every speech, the details of how these expenditures affected the municipal budget and which items these expenses were made on were not shared transparently with the public.
