Women’s violence was addressed in Hakkari.

A “2024-3rd Term Coordination Monitoring and Evaluation Meeting for Combating Violence Against Women” was held under the chairmanship of Hakkari Governor Ali Çelik.

During the presentation at the meeting, the decisions made in the previous meeting and the works carried out in accordance with those decisions were also discussed. The meeting, which also covered the works carried out by stakeholder institutions, evaluated the efforts to strengthen inter-institutional coordination and cooperation regarding violence against women and the empowerment of women. It was also discussed in the meeting that necessary guidance and counseling support is provided to perpetrators of violence by the Violence Prevention and Monitoring Center Directorate. The presentation included the statement, “The General Directorate of Provincial Administration of the Ministry of Interior has determined that 12,000 men will receive face-to-face training throughout Hakkari in 2024. In this context, it was decided to ensure that face-to-face trainings on ‘Combating Domestic and Violence Against Women’ are actively conducted by training teams formed by stakeholder institutions under the coordination of the Violence Prevention and Monitoring Center Directorate, and that the works continue until the end of the year. As of January 2024, 15,000 male citizens have been reached. From July to September, a total of 211 cases have been reported by the police, gendarmerie, and others.”

Governor Ali Çelik, Deputy Governor Furkan Berber, Chief Public Prosecutor Harun Ünlüsoy, Provincial Police Chief İdris Yılmaz, Provincial Gendarmerie Commander Brigadier General Necip Çarıkcıoğlu, Provincial National Education Director Nurettin Yılmaz, Provincial Director of Family and Social Services Abdulhalim Ünalan, and women’s associations attended the meeting.
