The Education and Science Power Solidarity Union (Education Power Sen) held a press conference in Ankara due to perceived injustice in the teacher appointment interview results.
Education Power Sen organized a press conference in Ankara’s Ulus Square, stating that there was injustice in the teacher appointment interview results. The General President of Education Power Sen, Oğuz Özat, expressed, “The abolition of the interviews is a promise made by the President of the Republic of Turkey. It is the state’s promise. How sad it is that we have come here for the state to keep its promise. The former Minister of National Education, Mahmut Özer, stated that there would be no interviews for teachers. Afterwards, the new Minister, Yusuf Tekin, said, ‘We will conduct the interviews like interviews.’ He had announced that commissions would be established and everyone would have an interview of 45 minutes in their own field. At that time, we stated in our press release that this would not be applicable, that such a duration would not exist, and that such a number of commissions was unrealistic and contrary to reality. And they could not implement it. Not only could they not conduct the interviews like interviews, but also they established commissions with such incompetence that they could not even hold meetings. One of the commissions gave everyone plus 2 points, while another commission gave everyone plus 5 points. Is this measurement and evaluation? I look at one commission in Ankara; they gave everyone scores between 5 and 7. In Istanbul, however, an evaluation was made according to everyone’s KPSS scores. Now, what crime does our friend who took the interview in Istanbul have? Suddenly, they are out of the ranking. Well, what is special about our friend in Ankara? They suddenly jumped ahead of thousands of people and got into the ranking. Unfortunately, the interviews could not be conducted as interviews,” he said.
“We demand the cancellation of the interviews”
Continuing his statement, Özat noted that the rankings were not disclosed, saying, “Another absurd aspect of the matter is that the rankings are not announced. The ranking in the exam has not been announced. And they told the teachers that they have a 3-5 day objection period. What will this teacher object to? The ranking is not clear. It is being hidden. You accidentally announced the scores, and then half an hour later, you removed them yourself. 13 thousand people saw it from the system. The ministry managed everything with incompetence. The interview scores have been announced unfairly. One day, when the rankings are announced, the ministry will not be able to handle it. This is a violation of rights. It is a breach of trust. We demand the cancellation of the interviews. I am calling out to our President from here,” he spoke.
