The Mesude İnan Kindergarten, built on the land allocated by Kepez Municipality in the Duraliler Neighborhood by a philanthropist, was opened with a ceremony.

Kepez, a district of Antalya with a population of 650,000, has gained another educational institution. The kindergarten, which was built with the contributions of philanthropist Nevzat İnan on an area of 9,449 square meters, was opened with the participation of Antalya Governor Hulusi Şahin, Kepez District Governor Nusret Şahin, Kepez Mayor Mesut Kocagöz, Antalya Provincial Director of National Education Salih Kaygusuz, muhtars, council members, and citizens. In his speech at the opening ceremony, Duraliler Neighborhood Muhtar Erol Bakırcı stated that children are the hope lights of the future and that kindergartens are one of the most important investments in children’s future.

“Education is the foundation of the future”

Antalya Provincial Director of National Education Salih Kaygusuz expressed the excitement of establishing a new educational home for children with the contributions of education volunteers, thanking the İnan family for their philanthropy. He added that education forms the foundation of the future and leads societies to bright tomorrows, mentioning that one educational institution in Antalya was built by the state and another by philanthropists, stating that philanthropists are competing with the state in building schools. He also mentioned that the Nevzat İnan Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School, which has been undertaken by the İnan family, will open its doors next year, and they will also establish a Public Education Center in İbradı.

“We cannot thank enough”

Kepez Mayor Mesut Kocagöz thanked the İnan family for their philanthropy. Stating that the municipality is at the service of all institutions, Mayor Kocagöz said, “99% of this land belonged to our municipality. It was immediately transferred to our Provincial Directorate of National Education. Our philanthropist has created a beautiful work. May Allah accept their good deeds. No matter how beautiful buildings you construct, education is very important. The ones who provide this education are you, our teachers. The first social lives of our children begin in kindergarten after their families. They will do what they see from you; they will always take you as an example. We cannot thank you enough regarding the sanctity of your profession. May it be beneficial and auspicious,” he thanked the philanthropists.

“Antalya is a pioneer in school construction”

In his speech at the opening ceremony, Antalya Governor Hulusi Şahin emphasized the importance of preschool education, stating, “A child’s identity and life is shaped in the first 5 years. If you plant the right seeds there, you will raise healthy, characterful, hardworking, and proper individuals. We value the rate of schooling in preschool very much and want it to be 100%. There is a serious leap in this regard in Turkey. Antalya is one of the pioneering cities, and we have a preschool schooling rate of over 90% compared to the national average. We owe this both to proper investment planning and to the support of our philanthropists. They have built such beautiful schools that we can’t keep up with opening them,” he said.

“Kepez is developing rapidly”

Governor Şahin continued his speech by saying, “You keep making such beautiful works, opening such beautiful schools, I will always come to Kepez. In fact, I might as well settle here. Kepez is growing and developing very rapidly. It is adding the population of a district each year. In such a rapidly growing city, we have almost eliminated dual education. The main production of this success is actually land production. We are immediately converting the lands provided to us by our municipalities with correct zoning and land policies into schools. Thus, we are overcoming obstacles, especially in dual education. If you cannot produce enough land, where will we build schools?” he said.

“Ending dual education in Antalya”

Governor Şahin also added that they faced serious difficulties in ending dual education in the old settlement area of Muratpaşa. “The same problem exists in Manavgat. We overcame it in Alanya, and our goal is to end dual education in Turkey, especially in Antalya. Dual education is not a modern education system. You take children to school very early in the morning. Time is very short, and you place very short breaks. Dual education hinders other social activities. It has many disadvantages. Normal education starts at a normal time, offering long break times and lunch opportunities. We have 74 schools in Antalya where dual education is conducted,” he said. After the speeches, the Mesude İnan Kindergarten was opened for service.
