A city tour is being organized for university students in Mersin.

Mersin Metropolitan Municipality organizes city promotional tours for students who have been accepted to university. Students participating in the tour organized under the coordination of the Mersin City Council take a city tour on an open-top bus.

The Metropolitan Municipality, which supports students in every field, organizes city promotional tours for newly accepted university students. In the promotional tours organized under the coordination of the Mersin City Council, students took a city tour on an open-top bus. In this context, first-year students from the Department of Classroom Teaching and Special Education Teaching at Mersin University came together for the city tour. Starting the tour from Soli, the students saw both the must-visit places along the coastline and the services provided by the Metropolitan Municipality for the city and the students on-site. The city tour, which began at Soli Beach, continued along the Viranşehir coast. The students took a break by visiting Down Cafe. Passing by Tribün Cafe, one of the cafes established by the Metropolitan Municipality, the group continued along Adnan Menderes Boulevard and reached the Address Reading Room. The students toured the reading room and registered there. They also visited the Congress and Exhibition Palace and the library, and had the opportunity to see Mersin Port, the Stone Building under restoration, and Mersin Bazaar. After a meal break at Survivor Cafe, the students also visited the Mercan 100th Year Climate and Environment Science Center, and were dropped off at their dormitories after completing the city tour.

“We will continue the city promotional tour”
Mersin City Council President Alper Girgeç stated that the city promotional tour is a great initiative for students who are starting university in Mersin, saying, “We are taking students who have just been accepted to universities in Mersin to some important places in the city on our open-top bus, so they can adapt to Mersin better, faster, and more accurately. We will continue the city promotional tour for students.”

Prof. Dr. Serdarhan Musa Taşkaya, who serves in the Education Commission of the Mersin City Council in the Department of Basic Education at Mersin University, also stated that they requested to introduce Mersin to new students. Taşkaya noted that they received a positive response from the Metropolitan Municipality and provided information about the tour. Taşkaya said, “Our students got to know Mersin and it became a good memory for them.”
Mersin University Classroom Teaching first-year student Baran Macar expressed their satisfaction with the tour, stating, “It was a very good social activity for us.” Mersin University Special Education Teaching first-year student Şeyma Çakmaz also noted that the city tour was a beautiful experience.
