In Kocasinan, 57,191 trees were saved in 10 months.

Kocasinan Municipality, which contributes to the Turkish economy through recycling projects, recycled 3,364 tons of paper waste in the first 10 months of 2024, preventing the cutting down of 57,191 trees. Kocasinan Mayor Ahmet Çolakbayrakdar stated that they continue to be an innovative and exemplary municipality through their recycling efforts, emphasizing that recycling provides significant contributions to both the environment and the economy.

Mayor Çolakbayrakdar highlighted their substantial support for recycling with KAYÇEV, a modern recycling facility in Anatolia equipped with the latest technologies, and continued his remarks as follows: “With our recycling facility KAYÇEV, 3,364 tons of paper waste were recycled in the first 10 months, preventing the cutting down of 57,191 trees. 1,682.1 tons of plastic waste were recycled, resulting in an electricity saving of 1,120,278.6 kW/h. 168.21 tons of glass waste were recycled, achieving a saving of 16,821 liters of petroleum. Thus, we have contributed more to the national economy and nature.”

Emphasizing the exemplary work they are doing within the framework of the ‘Zero Waste Project,’ Mayor Çolakbayrakdar stated, “As an innovative municipality, we are making a significant contribution to recycling with the dual collection system vehicle, which is the first of its kind in Turkey, capable of simultaneously collecting sorted packaging waste and household waste. For the first time in Turkey, this vehicle serves our citizens in Kayseri and Kocasinan and allows the separate collection of sorted recycling waste. I especially want to emphasize that as Kocasinan Municipality, we fully support the ‘Zero Waste Project’ carried out by the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization under the auspices of our esteemed President Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and his valuable wife, Mrs. Emine Erdoğan.”

On the other hand, KAYÇEV, equipped with technology and having a daily processing capacity of 40 tons of waste, processes packaging waste collected in a sorted manner, classifying it and reintroducing it into the economy. Products that are commonly used in daily life and become waste, such as PET bottles, colored and transparent plastics, metals like aluminum, copper, and chrome, glass bottles, and all types of paper and cardboard boxes, are processed at the facility and recycled. Kocasinan Municipality collects recyclable packaging waste within the district through the blue bag distribution application in homes and collects waste in workplaces and public institutions using indoor containers, as well as through cage systems and large containers in supermarkets.
