President Köksal, who did not attend the CHP’s Esenyurt rally: “I know where and when I will be, not others.”

The Afyonkarahisar Mayor Burcu Köksal, who did not attend the support rally held by the Republican People’s Party (CHP) for the arrested Istanbul Esenyurt Mayor Ahmet Özer, responded to the criticisms about her by saying, “I know where and when I will be, not others. I have never been one of those who come when called and go when told, acting without questioning.”

After the arrest of CHP’s Esenyurt Mayor Ahmet Özer and the appointment of a trustee in his place, CHP held a public meeting in Esenyurt Republic Square, attended by mayors and deputies.

Ankara Metropolitan Mayor Mansur Yavaş, Bolu Mayor Tanju Özcan, and Afyonkarahisar Mayor Burcu Köksal did not attend the meeting, which attracted attention.

In response to the criticisms following her absence from the rally, Mayor Köksal made a pointed statement on her social media account. She stated, “I decide how and with whom to manage Afyonkarahisar Municipality together with the people of Afyonkarahisar. I have never hesitated to speak my truths. I know where and when I will be, not others. I have never been one of those who come when called and go when told, acting without questioning. Don’t confuse us with yourselves. Those who welcome terrorists in Habur with drums and horns, who cannot say a word against the invitation of baby killer Apo to the esteemed Parliament for fear of being removed from office, and those who rush to take a photo with the snotty FETÖ, do not have the right or the authority to question my nationalism. Even the alms of my nationalism would be too much for you.”
