Asuman Çığlıoğlu, the national athlete who will represent Turkey at the European Kickboxing Championship to be held in Greece, stated that her goal is to become champion, saying, “I believe I will bring the European championship to Turkey.”

National athlete Asuman Çığlıoğlu will represent Turkey in the 60-kilogram category at the European Kickboxing Championship, which will take place in Greece from November 2 to 10, 2024. Asuman Çığlıoğlu, who has 12 Turkish championships, 3 world third places, and 1 European third place in her kickboxing career, will strive to have the National Anthem recited in Greece. The championship is expected to host over 1,000 athletes from 50 countries and will be held in Athens.

“We have worked very systematically; I believe I will become the European champion”

Stating that she has been involved in combat sports for 13 years, national athlete Asuman Çığlıoğlu said, “I am interested in combat sports. I am a national athlete in kickboxing and wushu. I have participated in European and world championships in both kickboxing and wushu. I became the world second in the wushu category last April. Most recently, I was third in the World Championship held in Portugal in 2023. This year, I qualified to participate in the European Championship. I will represent my country and my province in the 60-kilogram category at the European Championship, which will be held in Athens, Greece, from November 2 to 10,” she stated.

Çığlıoğlu, who stated that she has completed her preparations in Kastamonu, said, “I believe we have worked very well this year. Together with my coach Emrah Şahanoğlu, we have worked very systematically in Kastamonu. This year, I believe I will bring the European championship both to Turkey and Kastamonu. I see this as a goal leading to the World Championship. If I become the European champion, I believe I will continue my success.”

Expressing her belief that she will be champion in Greece, Asuman Çığlıoğlu said, “I became the world second in the wushu category at the competitions held in China in 2024. I lost in the final by a very small margin there. I was very close to the world championship. This time, I believe I will achieve that championship in Greece. I have a bit of excitement, but I have learned to manage that excitement now. I think I am preparing very well. This year, I will put my excitement aside and hopefully bring the European championship to my country.”

Emrah Şahanoğlu: “We will have our National Anthem heard in Europe from Greece”

Coach Emrah Şahanoğlu stated that they have been training athletes in Kastamonu since 2008, saying, “In addition to kickboxing, I also coach in the wushu and muay thai categories. Asuman is one of my most successful and first athletes. She has been a national athlete of our province since 2014. She has 12 Turkish championships. In addition, she has three world third places, one European second place, and one European third place in kickboxing, as well as European and world second places in wushu. She also became the world second at the competitions held in China. We are expecting a championship at the European Championship to be held in Greece. We have completed our preparations in Kastamonu. She is currently in very good shape, the best shape she has ever been in. Hopefully, our athlete will raise our star and crescent flag and have our National Anthem heard in Europe from Greece.”

After completing her preparations in Kastamonu, national athlete Asuman Çığlıoğlu left the city to participate in the championship.
