With the protocol signed between Manisa Metropolitan Municipality and Zes, Turkey’s leading electric vehicle charging station operator, electric vehicle charging stations will be established in the parking lots owned by Manisa Metropolitan Municipality.
Under this protocol, which serves as an example of public and private sector collaboration in Turkey’s sustainability roadmap, the aim is to install electric vehicle charging stations in the municipal parking lots in the province and districts of Manisa. The protocol, one of the most important environmentally friendly projects in Manisa, was signed with the participation of Manisa Metropolitan Mayor Architect Ferdi Zeyrek, Manisa Energy Management Board Chairman Atınç Aksoy, and Zes General Manager İnanç Salman.
Mayor Zeyrek: “Zes stations will be an important step”
Manisa Metropolitan Mayor Architect Ferdi Zeyrek stated that the use of electric vehicles is an increasing trend in many countries around the world today. Mayor Zeyrek said, “European Union countries aim to build environmentally friendly cities by investing in electric vehicle infrastructure and clean energy. In advanced countries, especially like Norway and the Netherlands, it is possible to see many electric vehicle charging stations in urban areas, focusing on harmonious coexistence of humans and nature. This vision is one of the fundamental components of sustainable transportation in Europe. A future goal has also been set in Turkey in this direction. The installation of Zes stations in the parking lots of our Metropolitan Municipality will be an important step for Manisa to follow this trend and for sustainable transportation to become widespread in our city.”
“There will be more to come”
Emphasizing that municipalities should not be the ones demanding something but rather the ones collaborating, Mayor Zeyrek stated, “I see the protocol as the first step in this regard. I hope that our partnership will strengthen further in the future, and there will be more to come. I thank both the Zes team and my colleagues for this cooperation.”
“This will serve as an example”
Expressing that a beautiful collaboration will be established with Zes in 17 districts, Mayor Zeyrek said, “I have valued this from the very first day. From the other side, the municipality has always been the one asking for something until today. I want to show that it is an institution that can achieve a lot together through these collaborations. I hope that the partnership with Zes will be the beginning of this, and then we will cooperate with our 601 firms in the Organized Industry in this way as well. This will serve as an example. The most important point for me in this matter is here. We will show the city what can be done with both Zes representation and the resources of Manisa Metropolitan Municipality.”
Zes General Manager Salman: “These collaborations are very valuable for our country”
Zes General Manager İnanç Salman stated, “Since the day we were established as Zes, we have been one of the pioneering companies in introducing electric vehicle charging stations to Turkey. We have positioned our charging stations in every province from east to west of our country. With our high-speed charging stations, we aim to provide an enjoyable experience on highways and in cities as well. We continue our investments without slowing down. Undoubtedly, it is very valuable for us that this effort, which we see as important in our country’s clean energy transformation, is supported by public institutions both in terms of legislation and incentives. We desire to carry out this goodwill agreement we signed today with Manisa Metropolitan Municipality with all our municipalities as well. These collaborations are very valuable for our country in terms of sustainable energy and transportation.”
“It is gratifying that visionary municipalities are leading this effort”
Continuing his remarks, İnanç Salman said, “Not only Zes but also our energy group has a significant investment in the region. The transition to electric vehicles will be rapid. It is extremely critical for visionary municipalities like Manisa Metropolitan Municipality to lead this electrification. It is a source of pride for us that Zes, as a pioneering brand in electric vehicle charging operations in Turkey, is present here. I thank the valuable mayor and all his team for giving us this opportunity. We will prepare a plan that covers all districts and main roads in Manisa. In addition to charging station operations, we have products related to energy solutions that we are developing. With an innovative perspective, we want to implement and spread such visionary projects.”
