The excitement of October 29 Republic Day in Mudanya reached its peak with republic boats in the sea and the enthusiastic march of citizens in the streets. During the day, Mudanya was adorned in blue waters, and in the evening, it was draped in red and white colors, celebrating the 101st anniversary of the Republic with great enthusiasm.

Mudanya, which hosted the agreement laying the foundations for the establishment of the Republic of Turkey, celebrated Republic Day with great fervor. The celebrations organized by Mudanya Municipality under the theme ‘Long Live the Republic’ included ‘Republic Boats’ and the ‘19.23 March’ with significant public participation. The Sea Parade featured sea vehicles, including Coast Guard, marine police, tourist yachts, and fishing boats, as well as two ships that set sail for free from BUDO Pier for the public. The display of sea vehicles, watched by Mudanya District Governor Ayhan Terzi, Mudanya Mayor Deniz Dalgıç, and the district protocol boarding the ships with the public, received great acclaim. Boats decorated with flags in Mudanya’s blue waters provided a visual feast, while citizens accompanied the parade on boats and the shore, waving flags.

The Mudanya republic march began at 19:23 in Republic Square. Citizens participated along the coast, waving flags and showing great interest. The march, accompanied by marches, kept the spirit of the Republic alive and concluded at Mütareke Square. Celebrating Republic Day with the citizens filling Mütareke Square, Mudanya Mayor Deniz Dalgıç said, ‘We are celebrating the 101st anniversary of our Republic in a very special place, Mütareke Square, where the first cornerstone of the Republic was laid. I express my gratitude and appreciation once again to all the heroes who founded the brand-new Republic, which shines brightly as a result of extraordinary struggles and efforts, especially to Atatürk.’

Mayor Dalgıç continued his speech as follows:

‘Certainly, establishing the Republic is as important as protecting it, preserving it, and keeping it alive. Atatürk entrusted the upcoming generations, meaning us and the young people here today, with a duty by saying, ‘O rising new generation, the future is yours. We established the Republic, and you will continue it.’ Therefore, we must work harder every day to fulfill this duty he entrusted to us, to always move forward, to maintain a contemporary lifestyle, and to strive for a more civilized Turkey. We must not forget the gains of the Republic and we must ensure that they are not forgotten. If we can uphold these values, issues like violence against women and children, rights, law, and justice problems will also disappear. If we can uphold these values, we can achieve complete independence. If we can uphold these values, we can reach the level of contemporary civilization.’

At the Republic Youth Concert held at Mütareke Square, young groups from Bursa, Orion and Mons, took the stage. The groups performed songs loved by Atatürk as well as popular contemporary songs, joining the festive spirit of the Mudanyalı crowd filling the square. At the end of the concert, the people of Mudanya sang along to the İzmir March together.
