The new training sessions have started at the Traffic Education Park in Kocaeli, which provides children with a real traffic environment.
The Traffic Education Park, which operates under the Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality Transportation Department, continues to provide training. Opened in 2022, the park is the largest Traffic Education Park in the Marmara region. The park, which meets the training needs of public institutions, plans to provide education to 7,500 students during the 2024-2025 academic year. The Traffic Education Park offers a real traffic environment for children, featuring signs, traffic lights, road markings, and many other traffic-related equipment.
Since 2022, 18,138 students have received training at the Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality Traffic Education Park. For the 2024-2025 academic year, training is planned for 7,500 students. Students receive training in two different areas: Theoretical Education and Course Training, and they earn the right to become traffic volunteers by receiving a certificate at the end of the training. The trainings are provided by instructors from the Kocaeli Provincial Police Department and the Kocaeli Provincial Gendarmerie Command.
In the Traffic Education Park, training is provided to 4th-grade primary school students in accordance with the regulations of the Ministry of National Education. The training primarily teaches the rules that must be followed in traffic. Topics covered include the use of seat belts, pedestrian priority, public transportation usage, traffic signs and their meanings, following distance, the dangers of talking on a mobile phone while driving, the importance of pedestrian crossings, and traffic lights. After the theoretical training, students move on to practical training. Children have the opportunity to apply the knowledge they learned in theoretical education on the traffic track. At the end of the training, children who receive a participation certificate are given snacks, hats, and red whistles as gifts.
