The forest cleaning activity was organized in 81 provinces across Turkey within the scope of the ‘Forest is Mine’ campaign coordinated by the General Directorate of Forestry, affiliated with the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry. The event, which was attended by Deputy Governor Mustafa Kılıç, Bursa Forest Regional Director Esat Şimşek, Yıldırım District Governor Metin Esen, Yıldırım District Police Chief Sakip Yalta, non-governmental organizations, and volunteer citizens, aimed at collecting the garbage thrown into the forest.
Attention was Drawn to Forest Fires
Speaking at the event, Bursa Forest Regional Director Esat Şimşek emphasized that forest fires have increased due to climate change and global warming, stating that 90% of forest fires are caused by humans. Şimşek highlighted that well-maintained forests reduce the risk of fires and expressed that forest cleaning reduces the negative effects of fires.
Following the speeches, citizens entered the forest area with garbage bags and cleaned up the trash. The accumulated garbage and flammable materials inside and around the forest were collected to ensure the cleanliness of the forests.
