The Diyarbakır mothers condemned the CHP Chairman Özel for not visiting them.

Diyarbakır mothers condemned the visit of Republican People’s Party (CHP) Chairman Özgür Özel, who participated in a series of programs in the city.

The sit-in protest initiated by families wanting to reunite with their children, who were kidnapped by the PKK terrorist organization, has continued uninterrupted since September 3, 2019, in front of the HDP provincial building. The families, who are on a vigil for their children, condemned CHP Chairman Özgür Özel for not visiting them while he was in Diyarbakır for a series of programs.

Süleyman Aydın, one of the families, stated that they have been fighting for their children here for six years and that the CHP has ignored them since the first day of this struggle. Aydın expressed that Özel’s presence in Diyarbakır was a hope for them, saying, “We thought he would come to visit us. He would share our pain here. But unfortunately, he went to Edirne to visit Selahattin Demirtaş, ignoring the cries of the mothers and fathers just two steps away. As families, we condemn him with hatred. If there is going to be a peace and solution process, it must be based on our children. Özgür Özel is currently walking hand in hand with HDP members. They are currently brewing. Özgür Özel will never come here; the PKK will not allow it.”

Hatice Levent, who is on a sit-in for her daughter Fadime, recalled that they have been in this tent for their children for six years. Levent stated, “Our tears have flowed like a flood. Our President and Devlet Bahçeli gave very good speeches. May God be pleased with them. Inshallah, our end will bring good. We are very happy; hopefully, we will smile. Özgür Özel comes to Diyarbakır but does not knock on our door. Why does he go against us so much? They are wandering around Diyarbakır, this is their umpteenth visit. It’s a shame, it’s a shame; we mothers are in distress for our children.”

Rauf Biçer, who has reunited with his child, also said, “As Diyarbakır mothers and fathers, we have been fighting for six years. Özgür Özel personally called my wife to say he would visit the Diyarbakır mothers. He made a promise, but he did not keep it. He did not visit us because he did not receive orders from Qandil. We condemn the CHP.”
