In this context, Radiology Specialist Dr. Marina İskender, who works at the Ataşehir Municipality Women’s Health and Mammography Center, also made striking statements during Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Emphasizing the importance of women’s health, İskender highlighted that breast cancer is very common, but early diagnosis can save lives, stating, “One in 8 women encounters breast cancer at some point in their lives, but the chance of treating breast cancers detected at an early stage is nearly 100%. Therefore, as we always say, early diagnosis saves lives.”
“Every woman should perform self-examinations starting from the age of 20”
Dr. Marina İskender emphasized the great importance of every woman performing a self-examination once a month and seeing a doctor once a year starting from the age of 20, stating, “80% of lumps in the breast can be detected through these monthly self-examinations.”
“Mammography is critical for early diagnosis”
Expressing that mammography is also a critical method for early diagnosis, Dr. İskender said, “We recommend that all women have a mammogram once a year starting at the age of 40.
