The Metropolitan Municipality, under the leadership of Mayor Dr. Memduh Büyükkılıç, aims to bring the historical and cultural heritage of the ancient city of Kayseri to light and pass it on to future generations, continuing its efforts in this direction.

In this context, Mayor Büyükkılıç inspected the construction works of the second phase of the Tavukçu Neighborhood Project, implemented in the Setenönü and Kayseri Houses area, to reveal the historical texture of the Kayseri neighborhood.

During his inspections, Büyükkılıç was accompanied by Ufuk Sekmen, the Deputy Secretary General of the Metropolitan Municipality, and department heads.

Mayor Büyükkılıç received information from his aides and officials of the contracting company about the current status of the works.

After his inspections, Büyükkılıç made statements regarding the project at a tea house he visited in the area, saying, “We are here to evaluate the works in our historical Kayseri neighborhood known as Tavukçu Neighborhood. We are seeing and evaluating the hotel works related to the second phase and the completed works related to other phases on site.”

“We say ‘we are here’ in every field”

Mayor Büyükkılıç stated that their goal is to provide opportunities for applications that will bring the historical neighborhood to life in the same way it functioned in the past, suitable to the historical texture of the city, saying, “We are working hard to provide nostalgic environments where our citizens will meet their needs. May it be beneficial for our city. We are present in every field of our city with an understanding that carries our history, its present, and future.”

Büyükkılıç, while walking through the streets of the historical neighborhood, also inspected the historical sites where restoration works have been completed, receiving information from Gürcan Senem, the Director of Urban History and Promotion Department.

Students from a school serving in the area showed their affection to Mayor Büyükkılıç by waving to him from the windows of their classrooms when they noticed him. Büyükkılıç responded to the students by waving back and saying, ‘Young people, we love you.’
