The earthquake drill did not fall short of reality.

In Tokat, a simulation drill of the 5.7 magnitude earthquake centered in Sivas-Yıldızeli was conducted with a team of 300 UMKE, fire department, and hospital personnel for patient evacuation.
A group of 300 personnel from UMKE, the fire department, and the hospital conducted an earthquake drill at the Zile District State Hospital. According to the scenario, the earthquake with a magnitude of 5.7, centered in Yıldızeli district of Sivas, also affected the districts of Tokat. In this context, the C block of Zile District Hospital was damaged, and patients were evacuated. The drill, which resembled a movie scene, included not only the personnel but also patients and their relatives.

Regarding the drill, Hap President Amine Hatun Ağırman stated, “First of all, I wish you all a speedy recovery. I send my best wishes to our country and our district once again. Our district has suffered damage from the 5.7 earthquake, which has its epicenter in Yıldızeli district of Sivas. According to the information we received from our neighboring villages, there have been destructions, but we have not yet had any patients brought to our hospital. There is severe damage in the C block of our hospital. For now, we have managed to evacuate our patients in some way. We have a patient who underwent an appendectomy. We have a patient brought from the delivery room. Unfortunately, we also have a patient who suffered a heart attack due to the earthquake, and we lost him. Other than that, we have safely evacuated all our personnel and patients from the hospital at this moment,” she said.

Providing information about the drill, Armağan said, “We have collectively carried out the hospital disaster and emergency drill for the year 2024. Thank you all for your efforts. As you know, our country is unfortunately an earthquake zone. I want all of us to be conscious individuals regarding this issue. From now on, we will have different projects in collaboration with our AFAD responsible Yılmaz Bey and other friends to raise awareness among our citizens and personnel regarding drills and various projects. We experienced the drill as if it were real. Hopefully, we won’t have to experience the real thing.”
