In Erzincan, 15 women bee milk producers who learned to produce bee milk through theoretical and practical training during the summer season were sent to Ordu by the Erzincan Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry.
As part of the Women Farmers Meeting Agricultural Innovations Program funded by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, the Women’s Hand Bee Milk Project, carried out by the Coordination and Agricultural Data Branch of the Erzincan Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry, included 15 women farmers from Erzincan who learned to produce bee milk. They were sent to Ordu for a technical trip.
The female beekeepers, who previously learned bee milk production in the theoretical and practical training they attended, will see and experience the processes carried out at the Ordu Beekeeping Research Institute on-site, and by producing bee milk in Erzincan, they will provide added value to both their families’ budgets and the Erzincan economy.
The women beekeepers from Erzincan were sent off by Murat Şahin, the Provincial Director of Agriculture and Forestry, and Rahmi Özendi, the President of the Erzincan Beekeepers Association.
Speaking at the farewell ceremony, Murat Şahin, Provincial Director of Agriculture, stated that women, who are present in every area of life, contribute to production in all branches of the agricultural sector, and that the labor and knowledge of women in every agricultural product produced in our country cannot be denied.
Director Şahin said, “We provided theoretical and practical training on bee milk cultivation to a total of 15 women farmers engaged in beekeeping activities in their districts. By equipping them with the necessary equipment and encouraging them to produce bee milk, we enabled women to have a say in beekeeping, contributing to the development of women’s agricultural skills and the increase of female entrepreneurship in rural areas. Our goal was to introduce beekeepers engaged in beekeeping activities in rural areas to additional production models and to convey modern production techniques and the latest information related to beekeeping to our female beekeepers.”
Pointing out that there are 115,000 bee hives in Erzincan, Provincial Director of Agriculture and Forestry Murat Şahin emphasized that the beekeeping sector has a deep-rooted history in Erzincan and that the honey produced is sent to all corners of the country. Stating that beekeeping is not just about honey production, Şahin noted that there are also products such as bee milk, pollen, and propolis, and that efforts are being made to produce these in Erzincan.
