ISTANBUL (IHA) – Minister of Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih Kacır stated, “As we open the door to the century of Turkey, we are advancing confidently towards making our country a global production hub. We aim to spread the success we achieved in the defense industry to different sectors by focusing on paradigm shifts.”
Minister Kacır attended the Opening Ceremony of the Academic Year at Bezmialem Vakıf University. In his speech at the event, Minister Kacır said, “During the last 22 years under the leadership of our President, we have issued investment incentive certificates for 3,363 investments in the health sector, mobilizing more than 759 billion lira in investments and opening the way for approximately 212,000 qualified employment opportunities.”
Recalling the vision of ‘National Technology Move’ aimed at placing Turkey among the world’s most developed economies, Minister Kacır stated, “In this journey we continue with the understanding of ‘Fully Independent Turkey’ in critical technologies, we are collectively building the Turkey Century with a spirit of national mobilization.”
Speaking about projects developed with local and national resources, Minister Kacır remarked, “At this point we have our UAVs and armed UAVs changing global war paradigms flying in the skies of about 50 countries. TCG Anadolu sails freely in blue waters and international seas. Our eye in space, IMECE, provides high-resolution images from every corner of the earth. With our domestic communication satellite TÜRKSAT 6A, we are among the few countries in the world.”
“We aim to spread the success we have achieved in the defense industry to different sectors”
Minister Kacır stated, “As we open the door to the Turkey Century, we are making confident strides towards making our country a global production hub. We aim to spread the success we achieved in the defense industry to different sectors by focusing on paradigm shifts. Indeed, Togg has been a fruit of this approach. Togg, realized as a public-supported private sector initiative, is our country’s response to the global transformation in the mobility ecosystem. We want to achieve similar success stories in other areas as well. The health sector is one of the leading fields. In this age where our health expenditures and needs are increasing, the paradigm shifts in the health sector present an important window of opportunity for our country to elevate its technology production and development capabilities to a higher level.”
“We have mobilized more than 759 billion lira in investments in the health sector over the last 22 years”
Minister Kacır also emphasized that the localization of health information technologies is among the priorities, stating, “Globally, three major issues; the growing and aging population, the increase in chronic diseases, and rising health expenditures, have led us to prioritize the development of predictive, preventive, personalized, and participatory smart living and health systems. We accelerated our efforts in the production of critical and strategic pharmaceuticals, medical devices, and the localization initiative in health information technologies. Under the leadership of our President, in the last 22 years, we have issued investment incentive certificates for 3,363 investments in the health sector, mobilizing more than 759 billion lira in investments and opening the way for approximately 212,000 qualified employment opportunities.”
“We will support every step that will make Turkey a center of attraction for health ventures”
Minister Kacır stated that they would also support initiatives to be realized in health technologies, saying, “Our country’s technology ecosystem has produced 7 technology ventures that have surpassed billion-dollar valuations, which we refer to as Turcorns, but we have not yet produced a Turcorn in health technologies. Today, there are over 120 health technology ventures in the world that have reached this level. We believe that with our qualified human resources in the health sector and the strong technology ecosystem we have established, we will create global success stories in the upcoming period. We will support every step taken to position Turkey as a center of attraction for health ventures not only from Turkey but from all over the world.”
