Visit from Former German President Wulff to Mayor Bocek

The former President of the Federal Republic of Germany and Co-Chairman of the Turkey-Germany Economic Council, Christian Wulff, visited Antalya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Muhittin Böcek in his office. During the visit, where the friendship between the two countries was highlighted, Mayor Böcek stated that Antalya is not only a city of tourism and agriculture but also a city of peace. Wulff expressed his admiration and appreciation for Antalya in his speech.

Antalya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Muhittin Böcek hosted the former President of the Federal Republic of Germany and Co-Chairman of the Turkey-Germany Economic Council, Christian Wulff. Expressing his pleasure about Wulff’s visit, Mayor Böcek noted that Germany ranks second among the countries that send the most visitors to Antalya. Mayor Muhittin Böcek also provided information to Wulff regarding Antalya’s tourism and agricultural potential.

“Antalya is also a city of peace”

While informing Wulff about Antalya’s agriculture and tourism, Mayor Muhittin Böcek said, “We are the third city in Europe that hosts the most foreign tourists, and fourth in the world. Fifty percent of the greenhouse vegetable production for our country and European countries comes from Antalya. We can also see Antalya as a city of peace. The Turkish Diplomacy Forum, where all leaders meet, will also be held in March 2025. More than 2,000 football clubs come here for training. As the Antalya Metropolitan Municipality, we are organizing the Legends Cup in cooperation with the German Embassy. We are hosting legendary figures of Turkish and German football here.”

For me, Antalya is the most beautiful place where I can relax. Since I always talk about Turkey, this time my son wanted to come with me. I understand very well the Germans who love Turkey and Antalya very much. The climate is wonderful. There are very high-quality tourism facilities. You contribute greatly to the interaction and integration of people through tourism. I believe we can do something for the Turkish-German friendship, which has been nourished by these relations for centuries.”
