In the 5th week of Trendyol 1st League, Iğdır FK lost 2-1 to Esenler Erokspor at home. After the match, Iğdır FK’s head coach Yalçın Koşukavak said in the press conference, “It was a match we wanted to win badly because we also lost 2 points in the home match against Gençlerbirliği. We shouldn’t have given such credit in the Erok match, but unfortunately, football is such a game. We lost the match from two counterattacks while we completely played in the opponent’s half, had possession, and played so close to the opponent’s goal. Every defeat teaches something to smart people, and we have lessons to learn from this. This is a process; we are talking about a season here. Matches that we would qualify as surprises on paper are lost; this is the nature of football, and that is what makes football an interesting game. I am very sad that we lost.”

Koşukavak emphasized that there are tough matches in the league, stating, “There are tough games in this league. It does not resemble the lower leagues; opponents make better defenses and wait more crowded. We won a similar game last week in Pendik. We have a good squad; my players wanted it a lot, and we made a great effort to win, but sometimes football doesn’t work just because you want it. We need to do a bit more of the right things at home.”

Esenler Erokspor’s head coach Mehmet Altıparmak, in his post-match evaluation, said, “It is very nice to win; we achieved our first victory of the season. Of course, taking this from the leader of last week, from a team that has gathered points in 3 matches, and doing it away is very pleasing for us. In the previous 3 matches we played, we played similar games. We had caught opportunities.”

Altıparmak also mentioned that they utilized the national break well, saying, “We made our transfers during the national break; our transfers just arrived, and a few of them are not ready yet. That is why we couldn’t play, but we fought very well today with the friends who are ready, playing a tremendous team game. At the beginning of the match, we had 2-3 clear chances that we couldn’t score. We hardly gave the opponent any chances. The opponent didn’t have a clear chance that they missed; if we had scored the first goal in the first half, we would have won more comfortably, but what matters is especially the match we won away, which gave our team great morale. For us, the league is just starting; leagues settle down only after the fifth or sixth week. I kiss the foreheads of all my players for their performance and congratulate them. We shouldn’t make too much of it; the league is a long marathon. It is gratifying to have the first victory, but now we will forget this match and prepare for the Erzurum match we will play on Friday.”
