The groundbreaking ceremony for the Philanthropist Ali Turan Primary School was held in Uşak.
A groundbreaking ceremony was organized for the school built by Philanthropist Ali Turan in the center of Uşak. Governor Dr. Turan Ergün, CHP Uşak Deputy Ali Karaoba, Provincial Gendarmerie Commander J. Col. Fahri Semiz, Provincial National Education Director Halil Yücel, Philanthropist Ali Turan and his family attended the ceremony.
Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, Governor Ergün stated, “Hopefully, after we lay the foundation of this school together, it will be completed within a year. It will be presented for the service of our valuable students in the 2024-2025 academic year. This school, planned with 12 classrooms and built as ground plus two floors, will have a total land area of 3 thousand square meters and a capacity of 288 students, with a cost of 72 million lira. Uşak has really become a province that adds more success every year, building on the successes of the previous years in education. This is dependent on the achievements of our children, both academically and in national and international competitions in many fields. One of the fundamental conditions for success in education is to provide suitable educational facilities and have sufficient number of classes and courses. Uşak is of great importance in this regard. Of course, I must express that the contributions of our philanthropists are also significant for Uşak. Currently, 58 of the schools in Uşak have been built by our philanthropists, of which 14 have been constructed as additional buildings for educational institutions, totaling 72 buildings.”
Governor Ergün continued his remarks: “This year, we opened 2 brand new schools in the Banaz district of Uşak. We are also bringing into service our schools undergoing reinforcement, and as we finish these, we are including schools built before 1998 in the earthquake reinforcement program within the new program framework. In addition, we have always strived to support our students. This year, the Social Assistance and Solidarity Foundation in Uşak provided educational aid of 8 million lira to 8 thousand of our students. Additionally, with another project, we spent 2 million 100 thousand lira to create study rooms for 145 needy students in their homes. We want this type of assistance to continue to increase in the future.”
After Governor Ergün, philanthropist Ali Turan spoke, sharing that he had dreamed of such a situation since his childhood, saying, “Since my youth, I had this enthusiasm when I read about such things in newspapers and magazines. I looked at those who did it with envy. I wondered if I could do something like this one day. God granted me this opportunity. I intended to do such a thing. Hopefully, I will bring it to fruition. I love children very much. I want to be an example for the youth and my children.”
After the speeches, the foundation of the school was laid with prayers.
