Minister of Labor and Social Security Vedat Işıkhan attended the 3rd International Midyat Culture and Arts Festival. Minister Işıkhan stated, “I believe that Mardin will be one of the main motivation centers that will reinforce our vision of the Century of Turkey, which requires not only economic but also social and cultural development.”

Speaking at the 3rd International Midyat Culture and Arts Festival, Minister of Labor and Social Security Vedat Işıkhan expressed great happiness to be part of such a festival, where many events ranging from exquisite handicrafts that pass ancient culture from generation to generation to local flavors, and examples of craftsmanship that weave civilization stitch by stitch, as well as concerts will be showcased over three days. Stating that Mardin is his ancestral home and fatherland, Minister Işıkhan emphasized that Mardin has been a city symbolizing brotherhood, unity, and togetherness, where Turks, Kurds, Arabs, Assyrians, and Yazidis have lived peacefully together for centuries, hosting many beliefs, cultures, and lifestyles from the past to the present.

Expressing his belief that Mardin will be one of the main motivation centers that will reinforce the vision of the Century of Turkey, which also requires social and cultural development, Minister Işıkhan said:

“Under the leadership of our President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, the state and the nation will work hand in hand to realize these goals, and we will continue to work together by putting all our resources into the development and progress of Mardin. By strengthening our feelings of unity and togetherness, we will continue to enhance our labor services and employment incentive policies. Together, we will bring Mardin to the deserved point it should be, along with all the elements it contains. I hope that this wave of brotherhood that will spread from Midyat through these organizations will reach every corner of our country and even inspire all humanity beyond borders.”

Minister Işıkhan conveyed that Midyat has always dazzled as a point where history and civilization intersect, as well as a center of culture and tolerance, stating, “This beautiful district, which carries the traces of the past in every step, presents us with the traces of ancient civilizations and the culture of living together of different beliefs and cultures. Today, with this festival that carries the same spirit of tolerance and unity, we once again see the unifying power of culture and art. Art is an important value that nourishes the human soul, while culture shapes society.”

Stating that he thinks cultural and artistic programs like this are very important for ensuring a happier and more productive daily life, Minister Işıkhan said, “In this respect, I congratulate everyone who contributed to this valuable organization organized under the auspices of our Ministry of Culture and Tourism, with the Midyat Municipality and the District Governorship, and I express my gratitude.”
