Kayseri Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Dr. Memduh Büyükkılıç attended the reception organized by the Kayseri Governorship as part of the celebrations for the 102nd Anniversary of the Victory Day on August 30.

The reception for the August 30 Victory Day, held under the auspices of Governor Gökmen Çiçek at the historic Kayseri High School known as Taş Mektep, was attended by Mayor Dr. Memduh Büyükkılıç along with his wife Dr. Necmiye Büyükkılıç, as well as the Chairman of the National Defense Commission of the Turkish Grand National Assembly Hulusi Akar, Garrison Commander Air Pilot Major General Kadircan Kottaş, AK Party Kayseri Provincial Chairman Fatih Üzüm, CHP Kayseri Provincial Chairman Feyzullah Keskin, members of parliament, judiciary officials, rectors, district governors, directors, district mayors, representatives of political parties, protocol members, veterans, and relatives of martyrs and veterans. After a moment of silence, the ceremony began with the reading of the National Anthem, where Governor Çiçek and his wife Sümeyra Çiçek received congratulations. Mayor Büyükkılıç also shook hands with guests one by one and chatted with them to celebrate the Victory Day. In a statement to the press during the program, Mayor Dr. Memduh Büyükkılıç said, “While we celebrate the Victory Day, the number of our martyrs is certainly significant, but among them, the martyrdom of the young students of Kayseri High School at the ages of 14, 15, and 16 holds a special meaning for us.” He emphasized that it is everyone’s duty to connect Turkey and Kayseri with the works that will crown the Republic, stating, “As you will recall, we will celebrate the 100th anniversary of our Republic last year and this year, hopefully, the 101st anniversary. In a way, it is our duty to connect our country and our city with the works that will crown our Republic. We continue our efforts with this understanding. We are proud of our fellow citizens who are devoted to the values of Kayseri, the star and crescent Turkish flag, our homeland, and our nation. I pray and hope that God does not give opportunities to those who want to take these values away from us. Here’s to many more 102 years.”

The night also featured performances specially prepared for the August 30 Victory Day, and a special cake prepared for the 102nd anniversary of the Victory Day was cut by the protocol members.
