At the “5th Samsun Çarşı 1919 Women’s Handicraft Exhibition” held in Samsun, women presented their handcrafted works to the visitors.

The “5th Samsun Çarşı 1919 Women’s Handicraft Exhibition” was opened at a shopping mall square in cooperation with İlkadım Municipality and Çarşı 1919. Dozens of women displayed their handcrafted products at nearly 50 stands. The exhibition, which attracted significant interest from citizens, was inaugurated by İlkadım Mayor İhsan Kurnaz, who examined one by one the products made by women over the year, including jewelry design, basket weaving, knitted dolls, ceramics, mosaics, tiles, clothing workshops, hand embroidery, and crochet and knitting work. Mayor İhsan Kurnaz stated that it is impossible not to be amazed by the handcrafted works made with such patience and delicacy, and he thanked all the trainees and instructors individually for their efforts.

“Our Honeysuckle Mansions project will be a favorite of our women”

Mayor İhsan Kurnaz stated that he would provide support in every way to women who contribute to and support the economy, saying, “Everything that has a woman’s touch is beautiful. In this regard, we prioritize women while producing our services. In this sense, our ‘İlkadım Honeysuckle Mansions’ project aims to give women the opportunity to realize their talents and to present the products they produce for the appreciation of others, and it will be a source of income for home economies. With this project, by evaluating handcrafted products, our women will be able to socialize among themselves and participate more actively in economic life. In our project, where we will offer the opportunity to sell handcrafted products through the internet and similar electronic platforms, our women will contribute to their family budgets through the sales made while their self-confidence will increase as they develop their knowledge and skills. This contribution is an important factor in enabling our women to become empowered. With this project, the winners will be the women of İlkadım and thus our İlkadım district,” he said.

The “5th Women’s Handicraft Exhibition”, composed of products created by numerous trainees over a long period, will remain open until 19:00 on Sunday, August 25.
