The International Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival Cinema Workshop will be held from October 10 to 12, 2024.

The cinema workshop, which will be organized within the framework of the Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival taking place from October 5 to 12, will take place from October 10 to 12, 2024. Participants of the workshop will consist of representatives from cinema professional organizations, associations, unions, and cinema academics, with the agenda focusing on current issues in cinema in Turkey. The workshop will be chaired and conducted by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Perihan Taş Öz, Head of the Radio, Television and Cinema Department at Istanbul Kültür University, and Aydın Sayman, Secretary General of TÜRSAV, Honorary Board Member of SE-YAP, board member of Sinebir, screenwriter, and director. The honorary consultancy will be provided by producer, founder of Özen Film, Mehmet E. Soyarslan, producer, screenwriter, founder of Belge Film, Sabahattin Çetin, and faculty member of Istanbul University’s Radio, Cinema, and Television Department, Prof. Dr. Hasan Akbulut.

Nine sessions will take place over three days

The International Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival Cinema Workshop will address the fundamental issues related to the production and distribution processes of cinema films in nine sessions over three days from October 10 to 12, 2024. Working groups, composed of academics and industry professionals, as well as representatives from associations, foundations, professional unions, and relevant government institutions, will discuss the relevant topics in each of the nine sessions, each lasting three hours, and will sign the final reports.

Fundamental issues of cinema will be addressed

Many important topics will be scrutinized in the sessions, including copyright issues, copying fees, reviewing working conditions on film and series sets, government support, overcoming production problems, academic and vocational training issues, film festivals, the structure and fundamental problems of cinema halls, viewing culture in cinema, key issues in the production and screening process of documentary cinema, film distribution issues, classification and age ratings, cultural heritage and archiving in cinema, among others. Additionally, two panels will be held as part of the workshop program.

The final report will be read on October 12

The final reports of the workshop will be published in digital and printed copies and shared with the components of cinema life and relevant institutions after the festival. It is aimed that a final report will be written based on the discussions held within the framework of the proposed topics in the workshop, and that this report will serve as a guide and roadmap for the institutionalization of the cinema sector in Turkey, solving the problems in the industry, and strengthening the relationships between industry components and academia.

The International Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival Cinema Workshop will begin with an opening reception on October 10 at 1:00 PM and will conclude with the reading of the final reports on October 12.

The topic focuses of the nine working groups in the workshop will be announced on the festival’s website, and accreditation to the relevant department is required to follow the workshop.
