In Antakya, Hatay, a 19-year-old girl who passed away due to a heart attack just 15 days before her wedding left behind her wedding dress. The dressmaker Belgin Aygün, who was saddened that she could not dress the deceased young girl, put the wedding dress on the shelf.

Idal Şahin, the 19-year-old daughter of Mehmet and Himeme Şahin, who lived in the Günyazı neighborhood of Antakya, died of a heart attack just 15 days before her wedding. Idal Şahin was counting down the days to her engagement with Sergen Küçük, but it was postponed due to her grandmother’s death. After the earthquake, Idal Şahin got engaged, and while she was counting down to her wedding on July 14, her uncle passed away, leading to the postponement of the wedding. After 40 days of preparing for marriage, Idal Şahin had a heart attack and passed away while counting down to her wedding, which was set for September 3-4. The funeral of Idal Şahin, who died at a young age, was held at the neighborhood cemetery. Belgin Aygün, who prepared the young girl’s wedding dress, left the wedding veil and the flower used in the dress rehearsals at the grave of the deceased girl. Feeling sad that she could not dress the young girl who died before her wedding, Aygün placed the wedding dress on the shelf. Following the girl’s death, all that remains is the wedding dress she could not wear.

Belgin Aygün, who designed the wedding dress of the deceased young girl, stated, “Ms. Idal was our bride and a very sweet lady. She came to try on her wedding dress. That day, our 19-year-old bride was very excited. Her death really saddened us. The dress suited her so much. Two days later, we received the bad news about the girl. We learned that she had a heart attack and died. We couldn’t believe it; it was a shock for us. Also, the fact that she died at such a young age and couldn’t wear the dress truly saddens people. We feel very sad when we look at the dress. We are very upset that we could not dress her in the wedding dress,” she said.

Belgin Aygün, who left the veil and wedding flower at the grave of the young girl who died before her wedding, mentioned that she had never experienced such a situation before, stating, “We took the veil and bouquet and went to Ms. Nurcan. Because she liked them very much. We couldn’t dress the bride, but at least we chose to place her veil and flower at her grave. We said it would bring her peace in the afterlife. Believe me, it was such a terrible feeling not being able to dress her in her wedding dress. We had never experienced such a situation before. This time we did. It was the first time, and I swear I was very broken inside. We always communicated about the wedding dress with our girl. Our preparations were going very well, but unfortunately, death caught us. We have put the wedding dress on the shelf, because it was a very painful thing.”
