As part of the agricultural project implemented by Kocasinan Municipality in the center of the city, 42,000 seedlings consisting of more than 10 varieties of vegetable seedlings have yielded their fruits. President Çolakbayrakdar, who has brought 25,000 acres of agricultural land where women produce and sell organic products to Kayseri, said, “We have become an inspiring model for Turkey with agriculture in the heart of the city.”

Stating that they continue agricultural production in the city center with 12 female producers as part of the project, President Çolakbayrakdar said, “We are in the garden where our Women’s Cooperative produces. Here, our female farmers have the opportunity to grow natural products. They produce products such as tomatoes, strawberries, peppers, eggplants, zucchinis, cucumbers, beans, okras, blackberries, and various greens. The cooperative we established last year has actively started production in the field and continues. The touch of mothers is felt here as well. This place, where both organic and local seeds from Kayseri are grown, covers a total area of 25,000 acres, consisting of plots of 1,200 square meters each. We continue our support for our sisters to be involved in agricultural production, just as they are in every area of life. We are one of the few cities where urban agriculture is practiced in the city center. We have achieved a first with a cooperative where women from a large city like Kayseri engage in agricultural production in the center. This project serves as an example for our women’s cooperative and will open new horizons both in our city and in our country. In addition to the investments we have made so far, we will implement new projects that will create awareness for Kocasinan. Our entire effort is to support the economy of our city and country and contribute to employment. Thank you to our sisters for their hard work and efforts.”

Emphasizing that they provide great support to agriculture for the cultivation of ancestral seeds for future generations and healthy societies, President Çolakbayrakdar added that this project, which connects citizens with agriculture in the city center, will illuminate Turkey’s future as a Kocasinan model.

Cooperative President Büşra Minaz stated that it is a very important project in terms of spreading organic farming and women’s employment, saying, “We have made great progress in the project we started last year. We have been provided with all kinds of facilities here. In addition to the 1,200 square meters of vegetable planting area, 21 square meters of indoor space and rest areas have also been created. There are 12 women members in our cooperative. A significant employment has been created here. Most of the women who are members of the cooperative had never worked or dealt with soil before. They discovered their own strength here. Our place is very beautiful and our land is very fertile. In fact, we are doing the job that should be in the rural area in the heart of the city. Right now, we are completely growing natural and organic products. There is no job that women cannot succeed in.”

Other female producers, who prayed for President Çolakbayrakdar who realized his dream, said, “We thank you very much for providing us with these opportunities in the heart of the city. Because it is close to our home and also in the center, we have more opportunities to sell the products we grow. We are very grateful to our president for offering such an opportunity. Here, both employment is provided, and as housewives, we have started to earn our own money. We are happy and proud.”
