“Our motto is; production, export, employment”
Evaluating the work by ISO that identifies Turkey’s largest industrial enterprises, MTSO President Hakan Sefa Çakır said that Mersin hosts 32 companies among Turkey’s top 1000 industrial enterprises. Stating that “Our motto is production, export, and employment,” Çakır congratulated the companies contributing to the local and national economy and continued: “In the ISO 500 lists, which serve as a report and inventory of industrial production across Turkey, we had 11 companies from Mersin. Even though their headquarters are in other provinces, together with our companies producing in Mersin, we observed that Mersin’s industry is on the rise with a total of 20 companies. In the newly announced ISO Second 500 lists, we have secured our place with 7 companies, 5 registered with Mersin TSO and 2 with Tarsus TSO. Our companies listed in the ISO Second 500 have become our pride. Again, we have seen Mersin’s net contribution to our country with a total of 12 companies in the ISO Second 500 list, including those whose headquarters are outside the city but produce and have facilities in Mersin. In other words, based on the ISO First and Second 500 lists, we have 18 companies registered in Mersin among Turkey’s largest 1000 industrial enterprises. Mersin is a city that hosts a total of 32 companies among Turkey’s largest 1000 industrial enterprises, with our companies that have headquarters in other provinces but produce, create employment, and contribute to national exports, showcasing the growing industry of Mersin.
“We are determined to write a new production story”
Çakır pointed out that these lists demonstrate that Mersin is both an emerging value in the machinery and manufacturing industry and a city that has managed to integrate its agriculture and raw materials into the industry while generating added value through its foreign trade. He stated, “The net sales of the companies registered with our chamber in the newly announced ISO Second 500 list have risen by 42% to 10 billion 648 million TL. With the total production sales revenues of 59 billion TL from the 11 Mersin companies in the ISO First 500 list; the total sales from production of the 18 Mersin companies in the ISO First 500 and ISO Second 500 lists have approached 70 billion TL. We thank these companies for their contributions to the city and national economy, their role-modeling, and the morale they provide during these challenging times. Mersin’s industry aims to become a production center that has risen to a higher league with goals of efficiency, digitization, and green transformation. As the Mersin Chamber of Commerce and Industry, we are determined to write a new production story by integrating our SMEs with the synergy created by our companies in the ISO 500 lists.”
