The applications for the 4th edition of the ‘Harvest Season in Gaziantep’ and the first-ever ‘Ancient City Gaziantep’ photography competitions organized by the Gaziantep Commodity Exchange (GTB) are ongoing.
Applications for the competition, open to all amateur and professional photography enthusiasts, can be submitted through GTB’s official website www.gtb.org.tr until November 25, 2022.
Mehmet Akıncı, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of GTB, stated in a statement that with both competitions, they aim to promote Gaziantep’s rich agricultural products and ancient city culture together.
Akıncı noted that the art of photography is one of the most effective ways to transfer Gaziantep’s agricultural heritage and historical texture to future generations, saying, “With these competitions, we aim to promote not only Gaziantep but also the essence, history, and all cultural riches of this city.”
Harvest Season in Gaziantep
Emphasizing that the Harvest Season photography competition in Gaziantep is an award-winning event where art meets nature and labor, Akıncı stated that this year’s 4th competition focuses on the harvesting of the rich agricultural products grown in the city and their processing through traditional methods.
He pointed out that the most fundamental rule of the competition is that all photographs must be taken in Gaziantep, stating that photos taken outside Gaziantep and its districts will not be considered by the jury.
Ancient City Gaziantep
Regarding the ‘Ancient City Gaziantep’ photography competition, which is being held for the first time this year, Akıncı mentioned that they aim to immortalize Gaziantep’s historical texture, cultural heritage, and daily life through the art of photography, saying, “Every detail, from the history-laden streets of Gaziantep to its unique architecture and cultural events, will be evaluated within the scope of the competition. Gaziantep stands out not only for its agriculture but also for its rich cultural heritage. This competition will beautifully reflect the history and cultural riches of our city.”
Applications via the website
Akıncı noted that the acceptance of works for the photography competitions started on June 24, 2024, and that photography enthusiasts from all over Turkey can participate with their works until November 25, 2024.
To facilitate and save time for participants, he conveyed that the works are accepted through the Gaziantep Commodity Exchange’s official website www.gtb.org.tr and warned that applications made by mail will not be accepted.
Awards for winning works
Akıncı emphasized that both photography competitions are independent of each other and will be evaluated and awarded in different categories, adding that the winners determined by the selection committee will receive gold awards in two different categories, while the owners of the exhibited winning works will be presented with plaques.
He added that participants can find all detailed information about the competitions and application requirements on GTB’s website.
