The Turkish Air Sports Federation’s Unmanned Aerial Vehicles Turkey Championship began with an event held in the Ayaş district of Ankara.
The first stage of the Unmanned Aerial Vehicles Ranking Competition was held in Ayaş with the coordination of Mustafa Çelik, a member of the Board of Directors of the Turkish Air Sports Federation and the President of the Turkish Aeronautical Association Ayaş Branch, supported by local administrators and NGOs of Ayaş. 28 athletes participated in the competition along with Hikmet Gümüş, the responsible board member for unmanned aerial vehicles at THSF, the branch president and competition director Can Tayfun, referees, and officials.
Branch President Can Tayfun stated that the competition held in Ayaş and the subsequent ranking competition to be held in Istanbul will lead to the selection of athletes for the Turkish final and the formation of the national team.
This year, the Turkish Air Sports Federation (THSF) Unmanned Aerial Vehicles Turkey Championship will take place in 2024 with a brand new format. The pilots who rank in the top 32 from the races held under the same conditions and on the same tracks in Ankara and Istanbul will qualify to participate in the final race to be held in Istanbul.
On Saturday, July 27, the Ankara ranking first stage competition took place at the Ankara Ayaş City Stadium, where 67 pilots registered, 27 participated, and 22 pilots achieved time records. The results were as follows:
“Eren Çolak, Hüseyin Yılmaz Çimen, Yusuf Ali Dalkılıç, Serhad Ekiz, Ömer Ege, Ahmet Faruk Yavuz, Deniz Sarel, Emrullah Yılmaz, Emirhan Aydın İzci, Emin Bekir Başaran, Haluk Kisbet, İsmail Duran, Ahmet Emin Arslanbaş, Hüdaverdi Tekin, Recep Altay Öztürk, Ömer Ateş, Ege Orhan, Zafer Dülger, Ahmet Bahar, Kerem Yiğit, Ebubekir Aldemir, Mehmet Orhan.”
A total of 149 pilots registered for the races, with 67 for the Ankara ranking and 82 for the Istanbul ranking, and 32 pilots will participate in the final race in Istanbul. THSF will award medals to the top 10 in the ranking races and the final race, while trophies will be awarded to the top 4 in the final race. To encourage pilots, clubs and teams will provide FPV drone equipment worth a total of 100,000 TL to the top 4 pilots in the final race, 25% scholarship support from Cappadocia University to the top 10 pilots, and a 10,000 TL sportsmanship award in memory of Bilal Zorlu and his family, who recently passed away. Additionally, all participants will receive a participation certificate from THSF.
In the 2024 season, the pilots who rank in the THSF Turkey Championship will earn the right to represent Turkey as a national team in 2025.
