Fish produced in Erzincan, which has no sea, are being shipped to Trabzon and Elazığ

Fish produced at the trout facility in Tuzla Creek, Tercan district of Erzincan, are being shipped to Trabzon and Elazığ.

The number and production of trout facilities, which have increased their capacities with state support, are growing day by day in Erzincan.

Fish production activities continue uninterrupted at the Tercan Aquaculture Facility, located about 5 kilometers from the district center in Tuzla Creek. The cultivated trout are shipped to the provinces of Trabzon and Elazığ after they reach a certain weight to be processed as salmon.

“With state support in trout production, a significant profit will be obtained in the country.”

Serkan Kütük, Deputy Director of the Erzincan Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry, stated that both juvenile and table trout production is carried out at the mentioned trout facility. Kütük said, “Especially as a region without a sea, we will send the fish we produce here to the Black Sea, producing it as Black Sea salmon and exporting it. This will result in significant income and provide substantial employment. Moreover, our supports continue in 2023. The Ministry continues to provide support for our trout and table trout production. With the newly published regulation, we will increase our supports and achieve a great profit in our country.”

Emre Özelgül, Tercan District Agricultural Director, noted that the Tercan Dam meets the electricity needs of 13,000 households and highlighted the increase in the quantity of fish produced annually in the dam. Özelgül stated that while production started in 2014 with 149 tons at Tercan Dam, it has now reached 650 tons as of 2023. Our fish produced in Erzincan are shipped to the provinces of Elazığ and Trabzon. We ship our fish, which we harvest at 350 grams, to be processed as salmon. Beautiful work and production can also be done in Erzincan, which has no sea. Additionally, we welcome all nature lovers for fishing outside the prohibited days in our dam lake.”

“There is no sea in Erzincan, but we produce good fish!”

Şükrü Adam, the owner of the Tercan Aquaculture business, explained the fish production process. Adam stated that they feed the fish at six in the morning and do not return to the fish during the day. He noted that the water temperature of the Tercan Dam is 23-24 degrees and mentioned that they clean the nets for the rest of the day. Business owner Adam expressed that their fish production capacity is 50 tons and stated:
“I take 220,000 fish. We bring these fish to 250-300 grams and send them to Trabzon and Elazığ. So we produce fish. There is no sea in Erzincan, but we produce good fish.”
