The Executive Board meeting of the ‘National Project for Small Ruminant Breeding in the Hands of the People’, coordinated by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, was held in Aydın.
The ‘National Project for Small Ruminant Breeding in the Hands of the People’, which includes Aydın, Denizli, and Uşak provinces, was hosted in Aydın. The project, coordinated by the General Directorate of Agricultural Research and Policies of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, aims to breed small ruminants to achieve genetically high-yielding breeds for meat and milk production, while also ensuring accurate productivity records. The meeting, held at the Aydın Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry service building, included discussions on the planned activities and projects, as well as opportunities for feedback and suggestions.
In a statement from the Aydın Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry regarding the matter, it was noted: “The 2024 Project Executive Board Meeting of the ‘National Project for Small Ruminant Breeding in the Hands of the People’, in which our province is included with 3 projects, 100 enterprises, and 17,158 small ruminants concerning Karya Sheep, Kivircik Sheep, and Hair Goat, was held in our province with the participation of Denizli and Uşak provinces. The meeting, held in the meeting room of our Provincial Directorate, started with the opening speech of our Deputy Provincial Director Hamit Eray Yeşilçayır. The meeting continued under the leadership of Nejla Güloğlu, Head of the Small Ruminant Research Working Group of the Livestock and Aquaculture Research Department, and included presentations from the technical personnel of the project from Aydın, Denizli, and Uşak provinces. Following the opinions and suggestions of the Presidents of the Aydın and Denizli Breeding Sheep-Goat Producers’ Associations, the meeting was conducted with evaluations from the project leaders, Faculty of Agriculture faculty members Prof. Dr. Orhan Karaca, Prof. Dr. İbrahim Cemal, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Onur Yılmaz.”
