Adem Özalp, the Provincial Director of Youth and Sports of Balıkesir, emphasized the city’s determined steps towards becoming the capital of sports in his speech at the opening of the organization. Özalp stated, “Events like these that we organize together with the Swimming Federation show how strong Balıkesir’s sports infrastructure is and mark an important step in increasing our city’s brand value in the sports arena. Our Olympic swimming pool continues to host large organizations, and these competitions will strengthen the place of both Balıkesir and Turkey in the field of sports. I wish all athletes success and thank everyone who contributed to the realization of the event.”
As the Balıkesir Provincial Directorate of Youth and Sports, we serve approximately 105,000 athletes and young people with around 200 facilities in 61 different sports branches. Especially in swimming, our work with 2,637 licensed athletes and 3,814 athlete candidates under the “No One Should Be Unable to Swim” project highlights how strong Balıkesir’s sports infrastructure is and how prepared it is for future large organizations. These projects and facilities will further enhance Balıkesir’s potential in the field of sports and prepare the city for major competitions at the international level.
