Osmangazi Municipality is delivering bread to tables for free.

Osmangazi Municipality, which produces 6,000 loaves of bread every day for those in need at Somuncu Baba Gönül Bakery, has distributed a total of 837,208 loaves of bread for free over the past 7 months under the leadership of Erkan Aydın, bringing smiles to the faces of hundreds of thousands of citizens.

In these days when purchasing power has drastically decreased due to high inflation, Osmangazi Municipality delivers bread, one of the most basic food items on tables, to citizens free of charge. Continuing the 600-year-old spiritual tradition of Somuncu Baba, who distributed bread to workers during the construction of Ulucami, Osmangazi Municipality produces 6,000 steaming loaves of bread every day for those in need. The breads, baked at the break of dawn, are left at the doors of needy citizens at different points in Osmangazi through the village heads.

Since Erkan Aydın took office as the Mayor of Osmangazi, an average of 1,745 households have received bread distribution each month. As part of the bread distribution carried out in 51 neighborhoods of Osmangazi, a total of 837,208 loaves of bread were delivered to citizens in need over 7 months. Citizens, whose faces were brightened even a little by the free bread, offered their thanks to Mayor Aydın with prayers for good.

Osmangazi Mayor Erkan Aydın stated, “With the understanding of social municipalism, we are always by the side of our citizens. We use all the resources of our municipality for the happiness, peace, and prosperity of our people. In these days when we are struggling with economic difficulties as a country, we are striving to provide some support to our people through the free bread we distribute. Despite all the difficulties, we will continue to stand by our people.”
