After President Ömer Günel took office, the Kuşadası Municipality has increased its social municipal projects threefold and provides numerous supports to students in various fields throughout the year. The Kuşadası Municipality offers assistance such as food bags, stationery supplies, free dinner, and educational scholarships for primary, secondary, high school, and university students.

The Kuşadası Municipality continues its efforts to minimize the adverse effects of the economic crisis in Turkey felt in the city. With the social aid programs implemented by President Ömer Günel, the Kuşadası Municipality stands by its residents at all times, not forgetting the students studying in the city.

As part of the social aid projects implemented for students, the Kuşadası Municipality provides weekly food bag support to children aged 6-14 from low-income families living in the city who go to school. The packages, which contain raw nuts, seasonal fruits, fruit juice, water, milk, and sandwich bread—items that students should have during their snack time at school—are delivered to parents via designated distribution points.

Throughout the year, the Kuşadası Municipality supports students in need and also provides stationery supplies when schools open. Based on the needs lists obtained from schools and parents by the Social Assistance Department teams, stationery packages specially prepared for each student include essential stationery items such as pens, notebooks, sharpeners, pencil cases, and ruler sets.

The Kuşadası Municipality also provides educational support to primary, secondary, high school, and university students studying in the city every year. An average of 1000 students benefit from this support, which applications can be made through the official website of the Kuşadası Municipality.

At the Gazibeğendi Facilities belonging to Arya A.Ş. of the Kuşadası Municipality, free dinner is provided for university students. This program, now in its third year and welcomed by students, offers four different dishes every day. University students showing their ADÜ student card can benefit from this delightful service every weekday between 18:00-20:00.

Continuing to increase support for students during President Ömer Günel’s second term, the Kuşadası Municipality has recently become one of the first municipalities in Turkey to install water dispensers in primary schools that convert tap water into healthy drinking water, in line with the call of the CHP General Headquarters. The initiative aims to ensure that students have free access to clean drinking water, using a system called reverse osmosis to purify the city’s tap water from micro-particles and heavy metals. The dispensers at schools are also inspected for hygiene by the Kuşadası Municipality’s Food Safety and Workplace Hygiene Inspection team every two weeks.

Stating that they will continue to be there for students at all times, President Ömer Günel said, “Our country is going through a deep crisis period. This period is very challenging not only for our residents living in the city but also for our students. Throughout the year, we provide food bags, stationery supplies, and educational scholarship support to our students. We also offer free dinner to university students. Now we have added our free water dispenser initiative to these. Because especially our elementary school children sometimes do not even have the opportunity to grab a bottle of water on their way to school. Initially, we installed the water dispensers in 15 schools across the city. Thus, our students can now refill their water bottles and containers with healthy and clean water for free.”
