Elazığspor’s head coach Bülent Yenihayat evaluated the victory against Somaspor and made statements about the upcoming match against Diyarbekirspor.

Elazığspor, which continues its rise in the Nesine 2nd League Red Group and will face Diyarbekirspor at home in front of its own fans on Sunday during the 12th week, is preparing for this match at full speed. Before the training session, coach Bülent Yenihayat answered questions from the press. The experienced coach emphasized the importance of the victory against Somaspor, where they fell behind three times, and stated that the Diyarbekirspor match would be challenging.

“A tough league”

Stating that the Somaspor match was difficult, Yenihayat said, “The pitch was bad. There was a poor referee performance. Despite that, it was important for us to win after falling behind three times. We always say there are no easy matches in this league. It doesn’t matter who the opponent is or what their ranking is; we are playing in a tough league. We know this and have said it repeatedly. Sometimes we struggle, and other times we have easier matches. We played against a young and dynamic team. But coming back from three setbacks and winning was significant. This gives us hope for the upcoming weeks and boosts the players’ confidence, as we have been coming back to win in the last two matches. Goals are coming in the last minutes. The league is starting to resemble last year a bit. Hopefully, like last year, we will be the team that rises to a higher league at the end, but there are many matches to discuss this. There will be times we will pass through. We are playing tough matches; it is difficult for us, but we returned with a good result that makes us happy. Winning is nice; hopefully, it continues like this,” he said.

“We will implement the truths of football on the field”

Speaking about the preparations for the Diyarbekirspor match, the successful coach said, “It will be a tough match in terms of league standings. As always, we discussed this internally. If we apply the truths of football more on the field and fight harder than them, it could be an easier match for us. If we encourage the opposing team on the field, it will be difficult for us. How can we implement our plans on the field? What are the strengths and weaknesses of the opponent? How can we take advantage of their vulnerabilities? We will try to put this into practice and apply it in the match this weekend. The fact is that we are a more quality team than them, and if we fight harder than them and apply the truths of football better than them, our job becomes easier, but if we let complacency set in, it can be harmful to us. We will concentrate as if we are playing against one of the top teams and aim to win this weekend to move on to the following weeks,” he said.

In the 12th week of the Nesine 2nd League Red Group, Çimentaş Elazığspor, who will host Diyarbekirspor at home, stated that young players Mücahit Çıra and Umut Uzun will be on the field to win. Elazığspor’s young goalkeeper Mücahit Çıra, who played for the first time in the league, said, “We conceded two goals from penalties. Everyone thinks it was my mistake on the second goal; I dropped the ball. I haven’t been in goal for a long time, and I believe I will improve my performance. This is a big community; we have to lift it. We are a very characterful team; it is not easy to come back after falling behind three times. I was proud of my teammates. We will be better. Even though Diyarbekirspor looks weaker on paper, we want to take the match seriously and win,” he said.

Right-back Umut Uzun, who is expected to start in the absence of Berşan, stated, “Our preparations are going very well; we have concentrated very well as a team. Although Diyarbekir looks bad on paper, it will be a tough match. We have prepared very well physically and mentally. Hopefully, we want to take the 3 points and climb up the standings.”
