Karamanoğlu Mehmetbey University (KMU) achieved great success by ranking third among 1,203 health model projects at the Health Sciences Festival organized for the first time by Karabük University.
A total of 1,203 projects competed in four different categories (high school, associate/bachelor’s, graduate, and free) in health, vocational, cultural, artistic, educational, and sports fields as part of the festival. The team ‘Visual Mind Thinkers’, consisting of KMU Faculty of Sports Sciences Physical Education and Sports Teaching department students Berranur Cengiz, Nazife Saraçoğlu, and Şerife Ceyda Uğur, was awarded the third prize for their project titled ‘Technological Model Design to Enhance Executive Function Through Exercise by Examining EEG in Individuals with Hearing Impairments.’
Prof. Dr. Murat Tekin, the project advisor, expressed the following regarding the achievement:
“We thank our Rector Prof. Dr. Mehmet Gavgalı and the Dean of the Faculty of Sports Sciences Prof. Dr. Sefa Lök. Existing technologies cause some deficiencies in the integration of individuals with hearing impairments into social life and the development of executive functions. With this model we have developed, we aim to enable individuals with hearing impairments to use their brain functions more effectively. Additionally, we aim to reach a wider audience by ensuring the project’s application in rehabilitation centers, health education, and faculties of sports sciences.”
Prof. Dr. Tekin stated that this technological model would greatly contribute to inclusive education schools, faculties of health sciences, and rehabilitation centers, saying, “To disseminate executive functions more effectively, this model will be developed through a mobile application to create a permanent infrastructure.”
