With the zero waste trainings provided in schools by the Haliliye Municipality’s Directorate of Cleaning Affairs, children are being made aware for a cleaner environment. Through the training and awareness activities conducted, 364 tons of recyclable waste were collected in the first 10 months of 2024.

Under the instructions of Haliliye Mayor Mehmet Canpolat, who values youth and education, a zero waste project implemented in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change and the United Nations Development Program instills recycling awareness in students. Periodic trainings provided in schools by the zero waste unit explain zero waste and recycling activities to children. Environmental engineers met with the students of Ibn Sina Kindergarten located within the boundaries of Haliliye district, providing information to the little ones through short films and educational videos. The teams explained that waste, commonly known as garbage, can be made reusable through recycling, attracting the children’s intense interest with games and Q&A sessions.
