The Bitlis Governorship announced that the obligation to use winter tires will begin in the city starting November 15, in accordance with the “Regulations and Principles Regarding the Mandatory Use of Winter Tires” prepared by the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure.
In Bitlis, the winter tire application, which is implemented every year to prevent possible traffic accidents during the winter season and to ensure the safety of citizens’ lives and property, will start earlier this year. In a statement made by the Bitlis Governorship regarding the matter, it was indicated that the winter tire application will be valid from November 15, in accordance with the “Regulations and Principles Regarding the Mandatory Use of Winter Tires” prepared by the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure. The statement emphasized that inspections will be intensified and vehicles lacking the required equipment will not be allowed on the roads.
“Considering the potential traffic accidents that may occur due to the winter season and the negative impacts on traffic safety that may arise as a result, in order to protect the lives and property of our citizens; by the decision of the governorship, a mandatory winter tire use will be enforced within the borders of our province from November 15, 2024, to April 1, 2025, for trucks, tractors, tankers, buses, minibuses, and vans used for commercial freight and passenger transportation, vehicles registered with type ‘A’ authorization documents according to the Road Transport Regulation, and taxis, public and municipal buses, and service vehicles operating commercial passenger transportation in provincial and district centers. In this context, traffic teams will conduct inspections during the winter season to ensure traffic safety, to enable our citizens to travel in peace and security, to protect life and property, and to maintain uninterrupted traffic flow. It is crucial that vehicles without winter tires, chains, blocks, and towing ropes do not take to the roads for safety reasons.”
