The introduction of the ‘Strong Women, Strong Society’ project, led by the Manisa Provincial Health Directorate, has been made. In the project, basic first aid and disaster awareness training will be provided to 80 women aged 20-40 who do not work or study, residing in 4 neighborhoods of Yuntdağı.

In the ‘Strong Women, Strong Society’ project, written by the Manisa Women’s Initiative Association and accepted by the General Directorate of Civil Society Relations of the Ministry of Interior, a total of 80 women aged 20-40, who are neither working nor in school, residing in the villages of Pelitalan, Sarma, Üçpınar, and Maldan in Manisa Yuntdağı, will receive training on basic first aid and disaster awareness from expert trainers assigned by Manisa AFAD and the Manisa Provincial Health Directorate. Those who successfully complete the training will participate in a mini drill in Ortaköy, Manisa, in the early spring, to ensure that the knowledge gained is transformed into behavior. A seminar on family communication will be held for the 80 women trained in the open air in Yuntdağı Davutlar village by an academic expert from the Department of Social Work at Manisa Celal Bayar University, and an open-air cinema event is planned at the end of the seminar. The project, which is also supported by the Yunusemre District Governorship, aims to create inter-institutional cooperation and project culture, contributing to the health literacy of citizens.

“We will continue to produce projects and support projects”

Providing information about the project, Manisa Provincial Health Director Uzm. Dr. Erol Karaca said, “As the Manisa Provincial Health Directorate, we continue to produce national and international projects aimed at increasing the quality of service while providing health services to the citizens of Manisa. In order to contribute to the health literacy of our citizens; with this project presented by the Manisa Women’s Initiative Association, we have collaborated with the Yunusemre District Governorship, Manisa Celal Bayar University Faculty of Health Sciences, and Manisa AFAD Directorate. Our goal is to continue to contribute to health literacy for the Yuntdağı villages, which are disadvantaged due to their distance from the center of Manisa and mountainous settlement. As the Provincial Health Directorate, in 2021, we provided basic first aid training to all village mukhtars by gathering them in 4 different locations. In 2022, we provided practical basic first aid training to the imams in the Yuntdağı villages in collaboration with the Manisa Merkezefendi State Hospital and Manisa Yunusemre Municipality, and at the end of the training, a first aid kit was given to each village. In this project, which will last for 11 months, basic first aid and disaster awareness training will again be provided to women aged 20-40 who are neither working nor in school, residing in 4 different villages, together with our UMKE teams and the Manisa AFAD Directorate. A drill will be held in Ortaköy in the spring of 2025 for a selected volunteer group from the trained women to reinforce what they have learned. The final activity will conclude our project with a family communication seminar and open-air cinema activity for the 80 women trained in the 4 villages, supported by Manisa Celal Bayar University Faculty of Health Sciences. As the Provincial Health Directorate, we will continue to produce projects for the people of Manisa with different institutions and organizations and to support the projects that have been carried out.”
