Students of Bursa Technical University (BTÜ), who have not remained silent since the first day of the massacres carried out by Israel against Palestine, expressed their reactions this time through poetry. At the ‘Poetry Night Dedicated to Gaza’ organized by university student communities, poems for Gaza were recited, and the martyrs were commemorated.

The event held in the Turquoise Hall of the Mimar Sinan Campus was attended by BTÜ Rector Prof. Dr. Naci Çağlar, Vice-Rector Prof. Dr. Barış Tamer Tonguç, General Secretary Selim Uzun, representatives of non-governmental organizations, academic and administrative staff, and students. In his opening speech, Rector Naci Çağlar emphasized that 44,000 Palestinians have been martyred by Israel since October 7, 2023, stating, “The cruelty and savagery of Israel has continued without limits for 401 days. In the face of this massacre, our lives should not be normal. The program carried out today by our student communities is very important in raising awareness on this issue. Because culture and art serve as a tool that holds society together, and poetry is one of our strongest weapons. Today, we will listen to selections from the poems written by our poets for Gaza. On this occasion, I once again wish mercy upon all our martyrs and hope that this savagery comes to an end as soon as possible.”

Following Rector Çağlar’s speeches, students from Bursa Technical University and Gülçiçek Hatun Imam Hatip High School recited their poems for Gaza. Poems such as ‘Al-Aqsa Mosque’ by Mehmet Akif İnan, ‘Mothers and Jerusalems’ by Nuri Pakdil, ‘Jerusalem is Speaking’ by Arif Ay, and ‘I am Jerusalem’ by Dursun Ali Erzincanlı were dedicated by the students to the Palestinian resistance fighters.
