Expert’s warning on boiler and radiator maintenance: ‘Stay away from bag sellers’

Experts have warned that the pursuit of cheap services can endanger life safety, emphasizing that citizens should only work with authorized and certified craftsmen.

In recent years, the natural gas explosions that have occurred in buildings highlight the consequences of unconscious choices in boiler and radiator maintenance. Experts particularly pointed out that citizens wanting to have their boilers serviced must work with authorized and certified craftsmen. Turning to unauthorized individuals who offer cheap services found on the internet or social media can lead to life-threatening dangers. Experts emphasized that boiler maintenance should be performed regularly every year, and that gas leak checks and fan cleaning should not be neglected for safe maintenance. It was stated that maintenance and repairs done through authorized services would minimize the risk of explosions. Boiler users were advised to consider not only the cost but also their safety by working with authorized and tax-paying craftsmen.

Kadir Yazar, a boiler and radiator maintenance expert, stated that attention should be paid to underground service providers in boiler maintenance, saying, “In recent years, we need to know whether the people we call to our homes are authorized, tax-paying, and skilled craftsmen or unauthorized ones, in order to take into account the natural gas explosions happening in buildings. Recently, we have seen customers opting for cheap services from unauthorized providers or those they found on the internet for boiler maintenance. Firstly, our customers need to think about their own lives rather than just the money. I believe that underground boiler repairmen consider themselves as craftsmen and think they can repair customers’ boilers by watching videos on social media. If they call our authorized, certified, tax-paying craftsmen and have regular and guaranteed boiler maintenance done, I think such explosions can be prevented. Boiler maintenance needs to be done every year with due diligence. The first essential check in routine boiler maintenance is gas leak control. Secondly, the fan that expels the burnt gas from within the device needs to be cleaned. The clean and healthy check of the device should be performed by authorized craftsmen who know their job.”
