The ‘Healthy Weight Loss School’ opened at the Healthy Life Center in Edirne aims to help citizens gain a healthy lifestyle.

The Healthy Weight Loss School opened at the Healthy Life Center under the Provincial Health Directorate in Edirne facilitates conscious weight loss. Clients, who undergo a detailed examination, are slimmed down according to personalized diet programs prepared by experts and through the theoretical and practical training they receive.

Participants who engage in regular exercise and are directed towards balanced nutrition lose weight healthily. Many individuals with weight problems can endanger their health by trying to lose weight using methods they see on the internet or hear from others instead of under expert supervision. In this regard, the Healthy Weight Loss School, which provides free services, assists citizens in losing weight consciously.

Body fat measurements are taken, and those with a high body mass index start attending training at the Healthy Weight Loss School after examinations and records are made. Within the framework of the 12-week training program at the Healthy Weight Loss School, theoretical lessons and exercises are held twice a week, while a walking activity is conducted once a week. At the end of the training, clients receive a certificate after 12 weeks.

“We invite clients to the institution twice a week”

Physiotherapist Esengül Ünsal, who works at the Healthy Life Center, stated that the Healthy Weight Loss School was opened with the accompaniment of a psychologist and a dietitian. She mentioned that they invite clients to the institution two days a week and plan according to the clients’ general exercise levels and the status of their musculoskeletal systems, noting that theoretical training and exercises are conducted on the same day, and they carry out walking activities in designated areas once a week.

Uğunsal conveyed that they generally perform posture and stance exercises, saying, “There is a lot of neck and back pain in society. The most significant source of this is the lack of correct posture. Our group includes clients with back and knee problems, and then we complete our lessons with exercises that strengthen back and knee muscles, as well as general alignment and relaxation exercises.”

“I had neck pain due to incorrect movements while exercising at home”

Feyza Kapucu, a 46-year-old citizen who attended the Healthy Weight Loss School, stated that her neck pain went away after the training and exercises she received here. She highlighted that they have theoretical and exercise training twice a week and one walking activity day. Kapucu said, “It’s a very healthy way of living. I was exercising at home too, but I was doing it unconsciously. I had neck pain due to incorrect movements. However, thanks to our physiotherapist, we learned how to do each movement correctly, so we exercise more sensibly. I’ve noticed a reduction in my abdominal area in just three weeks.”

Kapucu recommended that citizens with weight problems come to this center and participate in activities, emphasizing that socializing this way is more sensible than sitting at home watching movies in front of the television.
