Statement from ESOGÜ on Intensive Care

A written statement was made by the hospital management regarding the news about the Newborn Intensive Care Unit of Eskişehir Osmangazi University Hospital.

The hospital management of ESOGÜ made a written statement against the news published in the national press regarding the Newborn Intensive Care Unit. The statement included the following phrases:

“It has been observed that various media outlets have published news that slanders our Newborn Unit at Eskişehir Osmangazi University Medical Faculty Hospital, implying an immoral association with the so-called ‘Newborn Gang’ based on the statement of the General Health Workers’ Union. Our Newborn Unit, equipped with advanced technological devices and certified at levels 2-3 and 4A, serves not only our province but also the surrounding provinces, providing the best patient services and specialized training under the guidance of expert and experienced faculty members. Starting from March 2024, in order to ensure the healthy development of our newborn babies, to increase comprehensive care services, and to utilize our qualified personnel more effectively, an arrangement has been made in our Newborn Intensive Care Unit 1, with the permission and knowledge of the Provincial Health Directorate, to serve the same number of babies in the Newborn Intensive Care Units 2-3. During the arrangement process, there has been no transfer of any baby outside our hospital due to bed capacity. After the arrangement, our newborn patients from surrounding hospitals and provinces have been admitted to our Newborn Intensive Care Unit. In the case of transfer processes, the process has been carried out in coordination with the 112 coordination center. We strongly condemn the association of the arrangement made 9 months ago in our Newborn Unit with the ‘Newborn Gang’ that is on the national agenda and the spread of false news, while reserving our legal rights for the public’s information.
